Kindergarten: The Dot

I love starting out the kindergarten school year with the book, "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds.
This book is a wonderful way to encourage students that we all can be artists and it only takes one mark to get started. It also shows students that there are so many forms of art.
After reading the book, each student creates a dot by either filling in a circle with water color paint, or filling in around the circle. This was a technique that the main character used in "The Dot".
Look how wonderfully different all the dots turn out.
