2nd Grade: Bunnies

4th Grade: Comic Strips

A lot of preparation went into the making of these comic strips. First we took a look at cartoonist work that we all know and love, such as, the Peanuts.
Then students explored making comic strips using a digital program called Pixton.com. This website is awesome for creating comics online because it allows the student to choose the settings, characters, facial expressions, body expressions, and dialogue.
We warmed up with this website because I really want students to that changing the body language and facial expressions is very important as a cartoonist to sell the point of your story. We looked at the peanuts artwork in the same way.
We did some warm up games making comic strips as a group.
Finally we moved on to making our comic stories. The theme for their comic stories was "anti- bullying". There had to be some sort of bully in the story that in the end learned their lesson to not bully. Students created characters designs first. Showing exactly how each character would look. Then the final comics were created.
