5th-8th Grade: Jen Stark inspired drips

To warm us up for the school year I like to start with a simple project that a lot of students can contribute to. My 5th- 8th grade students took a look at the art work of a woman named Jen Stark. She is most famous for her very bright and colorful "drips". We studied both her 2D and 3D work.
Each student made their own drip to contribute to a whole wall of drips. The students were able to choose whatever color combination they liked.

K-4th Grade: Butterflies

With Kindergarten- 4th grade, we took a look at this quote and discussed  what we thought it meant. Our kinders took it very literal and guessed anything that had wings while many of the other students nailed it! We talked about how we will never know our full potential or what are capable o until we try. I applied this to both my classroom, to not feel intimidated by a project, as well as other aspects of life.
I wanted to decorate a bulletin board with this quote but asked to students to help me. They created butterflies to go along side the quote. Students decorated their butterfly however they desired.

Welcome Back!

Hello Artists and Families!
Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year!
I am so excited to be trying out some new projects and techniques this school year as well as continue with art project favorites.
This school year I will be making it a goal to implement more technology in the classroom! Such as a an art sharing app, Seesaw, for my 4th-8th graders, where family members can have access to their child's art work.
I will be continuing to upload images and descriptions of the art work to this blog as well.
I look forward to another wonderful school year!!
